Acampora is listed in Falk's Who Was Who in American Art and was a member of the National Academy of Design. Below I've shown a partial listing of the artists in an important 1966 art exhibition to illustrate the high level of esteem that was given his work. Just look at the prestigious company he is in! And there is a wonderful example of his work in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
