Oliver Grimley was a painter, sculptor, teacher and author. He was a long time member of the faculty of The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. He wrote and illustrated a children's book entitled Humble Frog.
His Tolkein-esque fantastical imagery is at once, inspiring, sensual and frightening and his boundless creative energy influenced countless art students who have gone on to important and fulfilling careers.
This particular work brings to my mind the carnal images of the provocative fifteenth century artist Hieronymus Bosch.
