Dermot Louison studied in London at the Sir John Cass School of Art. He traveled extensively throughout Europe in the early 1950's before returning home in 1959 to his native Trinidad. He then spent time travelling about the islands of the Caribbean observing the inhabitants and painting them in their daily life struggles. His art represents a bold portrayal of the cultural heritage of The British West Indies during the middle of the 20th century.
